Muhammad Imran Asghar is a PhD candidate specializing in Paleontology and Stratigraphy at the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology (NIGPAS), Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he is pursuing advanced research from 2021 to 2026. His academic journey reflects a strong and consistent focus on fossil plants, palynology, and Permian stratigraphy, supported by rigorous training at leading institutions in China and Pakistan. He earned his Master’s degree in Paleontology and Stratigraphy from Jilin University (2018–2021), following a year of intensive Chinese language training at the same university, enabling him to actively engage in academic research and international collaboration in China. His foundational education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Geology from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, complemented by pre-medical and science education from recognized boards in Punjab, Pakistan. Muhammad Imran Asghar’s research primarily concentrates on Permian paleobotany, particularly sigillarian lycopsids, in situ megaspores, bisporangiate strobili, and palynofloral assemblages from Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang, China. His work contributes significantly to understanding the reproductive biology, taxonomy, and evolutionary significance of Late Paleozoic plant groups, as well as their stratigraphic and paleoenvironmental implications. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals such as Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology and Global Geology, including the description of new genera and species, notably Bisigillariostrobus prolificus and Sublagenicula echinata. In addition to journal articles, he has actively presented his research at major international conferences, including the International Palynological Congress (IPC) and academic meetings of the Chinese Academy of Paleontology, highlighting his engagement with the global paleontological community. Through his integrative approach combining paleobotany, palynology, and stratigraphic analysis, Muhammad Imran Asghar is emerging as a promising researcher contributing to the reconstruction of Permian terrestrial ecosystems and the advancement of Paleozoic plant science.
