Muhammad Imran Asghar is a PhD candidate specializing in Paleontology and Stratigraphy at the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology (NIGPAS), Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he is pursuing advanced research from 2021 to 2026. His academic journey reflects a strong and consistent focus on fossil plants, palynology, and Permian stratigraphy, supported by rigorous training at leading institutions in China and Pakistan. He earned his Master’s degree in Paleontology and Stratigraphy from Jilin University (2018–2021), following a year of intensive Chinese language training at the same university, enabling him to actively engage in academic research and international collaboration in China. His foundational education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Geology from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, complemented by pre-medical and science education from recognized boards in Punjab, Pakistan. Muhammad Imran Asghar’s research primarily concentrates on Permian paleobotany, particularly sigillarian lycopsids, in situ megaspores, bisporangiate strobili, and palynofloral assemblages from Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang, China. His work contributes significantly to understanding the reproductive biology, taxonomy, and evolutionary significance of Late Paleozoic plant groups, as well as their stratigraphic and paleoenvironmental implications.
